A Fancy Holiday

Tuesday, November 26, 2013

It's that time of year...for Holiday cheer!

I got this fun fancy dress at Foreign Exchange: www.feclothing.com I pretty much got it free because they have a buy one get one free special happening, right now!    I plan on wearing this dress to a party coming up in December for some extended family.  Since it will be cold (the event is in Detroit!) I will wear them with thick black tights and super high chunky heels.  I got these ankle strap heels at Love Culture : www.loveculture.com

I wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving!  I hope it's filled with friends, family, and fun :)

Laid Back Princess

Monday, November 18, 2013

I wasn't going for this, but the reaction I got from strangers while wearing my Nasty Gal head chain (got it on sale for about $15) was, "You look like a princess!"  Granted these were all, let's say,  "eccentric" men I saw while riding the train in Hollywood; but it's still sorta interesting since I was wearing a comfy sweatshirt ($20 Forever 21) and cut off jean shorts ($30 Nordstrom BP) on my lazy Sunday.

Cheap and Stylish iPhone Cases

Thursday, November 14, 2013

I got the new iPhone 5s!  The goooooooold one :)  So naturally I had to find some new cases.  I had around 15 cases for my old iPhone 4.  Hey, you've got to accessorize people!

My personal favorite: the obnoxious purple bunny case.  Reminds me of Jessica Day from New Girl :)

P.S.  I also got a bumper because I gotta see that gold!

Nothing But The Truth

Wednesday, November 13, 2013

I've been thinking about this post for a long time, and have decided that it's important to me to put this out there.  I am usually a very private person, but starting this blog has forced me to become comfortable with certain parts of myself I preferred to hide and didn't understand until now.

The last few years have been extremely challenging for me personally.  I'm nearly thirty years old, but for the first time in my life I feel like an can call myself an adult.  This last year has been an amazing transformation for me, but an extremely painful one as well.

A chain of unfortunate events occurred in my life very close together last year, and as a result I started loosing weight very rapidly.  People started to notice and although I got tons of positive reinforcement, the truth about why I lost thirty five pounds in three months wasn't because I had found some new amazing diet; it was because I was severely depressed and had completely lost my appetite.

All of a sudden, I looked in the mirror and saw a whole new me!  I have to admit I was very happy about the outside, but the inside did not match at all.  I'm thankful that I was able to find help and after many months of hard work and reflection, I am now in a comfortable place with myself.

I am still working on myself to this day (as we all should be), but one thing is for sure: I got my appetite back!  I received so many positive compliments from friends, aquaintences, AND strangers when I lost all the weight.  Since then I've started to put it back on and because of the overwhelming response I got from people, I started feeling insecure about how I looked.  I was starting to be very hard on myself, but was then reminded that I only got that small because I WASN'T EATING FOOD!

SO, just as I had to get healthy on the inside, I now have to get healthy on the outside, THE RIGHT WAY.  Every woman's body is different, but I can guarantee you it takes work to look good (well, for most people lol) and from my recent experiences, I'd rather do it the hard and healthy way because in the end, that's what's going to last!

Change in life is necessary.  Although it's never easy, it's up to you whether or not it's going to be for the better!

Hard Day of the Dead 2013

Monday, November 4, 2013

I went to my third big Hard Festival last weekend so I wanted to be as festive as possible.  I love this time of year, as you all know!  I really wanted to play along with the Day of the Dead theme so for day one I rocked a skeleton dress I found online at MrCostumes.com for $30.

On day 2, I attempted a traditional Day of the Dead skeleton face.  I didn't like the skeleton teeth on me so I opted for lipstick.  I definitely need to practice my face painting skills but I think I did a pretty decent job!  I got my dress, thigh highs, and shawl from H&M all for under $50.

I had a blast!  Maybe a bit too much fun, because I was pretty worn out on Sunday from going so hard on Saturday.  I guess I'm getting old :)  If you're a fan of electronic music I highly suggest attending in the future!
P.S. I personally celebrated my Grandmother Frances who passed away last year.  Hence the butterfly on my chin :)

Halloween 2013

Friday, November 1, 2013

I LOVE Halloween.  It's always fun to dress up as something or someone else.  It's also fun to watch my favorite Horror movies while handing out candy to the cute little kiddos.

This year me and my buddy Melody fulfilled a dream of becoming Harry and Lloyd from "Dumb and Dumber" (one of our FAVORITE movies).  Since I've been so busy, I found these tuxedo shirts so we didn't have to buy each piece individually.  Then I searched Amazon.com and found our top hats!  We made our own canes using colored tape I got from Target.

So we enjoyed some goodies while handing out candy to the trick-or-treaters, and then went to go see Empire of the Sun at The Shrine. 'Twas a fun day!!
