Flower Child

Tuesday, March 18, 2014

I may not have one flower on me but I'm feeling the summer love.  The temperature is rising here in Los Angeles and I don't think it's going to cool down anytime soon.  It's a perfect reason to bust out my crop tops!   For someone a bit curvy like me it accentuates my small waist while taking attention away from other areas.  I got this top from Love Culture.  It looks like they're sold out :( but you can find more cute crop tops here.

This outfit is something I might wear to Coachella next month.  It's the perfect opportunity to adorn yourself with something you usually wouldn't wear on a daily basis.  I added my chain headdress from NastyGal and super cheap funky sunglasses from Call It Spring to put this outfit over the top.  I feel like a modern day flower child ready to float away into the sunset :)

P.S. I got my Refined D'Orsay Flats from Forever 21 (click pic below).

L.A. Woman

Monday, March 10, 2014

Working in film and television in Los Angeles, you'll find yourself surrounded by people who have traveled here from across the country to find success.  It's odd, but in my career so far it's rare to find individuals who were born and raised here like myself.  I have a great appreciation of this because it brings so many different personalities and cultures to my front door step.

Many people come here with stars in their eyes only to find that Los Angeles might not be as glamorous as they thought.  I think that's where a lot of my style comes from.  I like to mix glamour with funk and the result is something that is difficult to identify.

I got this Cat Tribal Crop Top at Love Culture.  I love the cat face.  No I'm not a crazy cat lady, but if I was would that be terrible?

The Sandal Wedges I got at old faithful Call It Spring.  I love the fierce old 70s vibe these are giving me.

BTW, Call It Spring is currently having an awesome 50% off sale on boots so check it out:

A Fabulous Find

Dudes!  I got this cool cape from Foreign Exchange for only $19!!  (Check it out here)

I LOVE the rainy weather we've been having here in L.A.  We even got some thunder storms!  But unfortunately the weather does not make for good photo shoots :-/  My camera rusted up and stopped working mid shoot!  Boooooooo!

But I'll be back soon with a bunch of great outfits and photos once I get my ish together, I promise :)

Sunshine On A Cloudy Day

Wednesday, February 19, 2014

Every morning I wake up and I ask myself, "What do I feel like wearing today?"  My clothing gives me a sense of comfort and security.  Sometimes I feel like a funky tomboy, and sometimes I feel really girly.  I don't fit into any one category because there's always so much going on in my head.

For this comfortable and girly look, I went to Forever 21 and grabbed this skirt:

I almost passed it up because it was so plain and wrinkly.  I think this is a rare find in a store like forever 21.

I love this blue Mossimo satchel I got at Target (here)!  It brightens up any outfit and brings a funky flare.

The cardigan, I found at H&M years ago.  This is an easy find that should be essential to every girl's wardrobe.

I got these awesome shoes at Zappos.com a long time ago (Blowfish Malibu).

The shirt was a hand-me-down from a friend.  I tied it in the back to accentuate my waist and voila, and easy breezy girly look topped with my favorite hat.

Take A Look Around

Tuesday, February 11, 2014

I've lived in Los Angeles my entire life and cannot remember the last time I took a stroll through the Venice Canals.  It's kinda silly how easily we can forget our surroundings and take advantage of what they have to offer.

Anywho, I am currently obsessed with this spanish hat I got from Nasty Gal last year.  It can turn a somewhat boring outfit into something fun and edgy in a snap!  I was inspired to wear this hat again because of American Horror Story: Coven.  I love how each characters wardrobe reflects who they were: talented and powerful women with very dynamic personalities.  It takes guts to wear big hats and high heels, and to be fashion forward.  I've had this hat for a while and haven't worn it much until now, mainly because I felt it might be too attention grabbing for a regular outing.  I love it and it makes me happy so why shouldn't I wear it?  I'm a funky girl with a very dynamic personality, so I'm going to wear my funky hat :)

Things I Have Learned in My 30 Years of Living

Sunday, January 26, 2014

I turned 30 last week.  Over the last year I've changed so much!  It's been hard but I feel like I'm getting closer and closer to a peace of mind I have been searching for my entire life.  I've been jotting down some thoughts and lessons I've learned that helped me grow up:

It's okay to be selfish sometimes.

The only person in life you can truly rely on is yourself, so be the best person you can be for you.

You have to teach people how to treat you.

It's better to face your fears than to run from them.

There's usually a reason people are assholes, and it usually has nothing to do with you.

It's okay to say NO!  No no no!

Travel.  Seeing the diversity of the world helps you understand your place in it.

The sooner you learn to accept and let go of things you cannot control, the easier life will become.

Loyalty is something that should be earned.

Stop being mad at the world, because honestly the world doesn't owe you anything.  It's done enough already.

I hope at least one of the statements above means something to you and brings peace to your life.

Here are a few snapshots from my bday celebration last week.  Sorry, I couldn't get everyone!  The bright flash in the dark club didn't work out so well.

Thanks to everyone that made it out, I had a ton of fun!

Brave At Heart

Friday, January 24, 2014

I'm in a phase right now where I just want to have fun, and I think it's starting to reflect in my fashion choices.  Not only am I attracted to fun prints and colors, but I also just want to be comfortable.

I saw this Gryffindor sweatshirt at Forever 21 and I just had to have it!  I've been sorted many times and I always end up in Gryffindor (lol).  This sweatshirt is perfect because instead of red and gold it's a deep hot pink which makes it funky and girly, just like me!  I paired it with a comfortable pencil skirt I got for only $6.90!!!

Shoes (Target) $19.99
